The slate slabs from Nozay are cut into blocks and used in a variety of ways , both for everyday use and for building.
The slate gives a blue tint to many mansions, houses, fountains, stone walls, crosses and bridges; a real feature of this rural landscape.

The Enclosure (L'Enclos)

Former medieval churchyard characterised by slate construction comprising a XVI C presbytery and a church dating from the twelfth century adapted in the fifteenth and nineteenth centuries. Classed as a Historical Monument since 1989, the church has wall paintings dating from the Renaissance. Its north transept is Gothic style and the 15th C carpentry is shaped like an inverted boat hull.
